• Ensure the space between the tiles is dry
• Make a couple of passes on a piece of card to get a feel for how the grout pen works, the pressure and motion you’ll need to get the most even application
• Plan your route across the area that needs reviving to minimise smudging any applied ink before it dries
• Leave the grout paint to dry before applying a second coat. You may not need it. Only deeply stained grout will require more than one coat
• Allow to dry for a couple of hours before getting the tiles damp, just to be on the safe side…
• Keep both a damp and dry cloth at hand to clean up any smudges as you go

Estimating the area you need to cover

It’s easy to make a rough estimate, here’s how.

• Measure the length of the side of one of the tiles
• Decide which grout lines need reviving
• Count the number of sides
• Multiply by the length of one side
• Divide this number by 60

That will give you the approximate number of pens you need for the job.

What you won’t need to do
